Tonight night we’re celebrating the majesty and energy that is Twisted Sister. First of all, for anyone who only knows the band from their handful of huge hits and outrageous videos like I Wanna Rock and We’re Not Gonna Take It, you should know that Twisted Sister had been slithering around the rock underground for several years before “Stay Hungry”. They are due any and every amount of cred and respect for their brutally honest, loud and brash brand of American hard rock. Imagine an American version of AC/DC meets Judas Priest – and you have early Twisted Sister.
Our friends at Eagle-Rock Entertainment have unleashed a brand new 2-DVD set called Double Live, and the collection features two full Twisted Sister concerts. The first, a chronicle of the band from 1982 as they bid goodbye to the east coast club scene they’d come to rule for six years – and graduate to the big time and the arena and stadium stages of the world. The second DVD of Double Live features for the first time on DVD, the New York Steel concert from 2001, which showed the band reunited after thirteen years of animosity. Friend and NY radio host Eddie Trunk inspired by the tragic events of 9/11, assembled a metal concert event designed to raise funds for the New York Police officers and Firemen and their families. Realizing the impact that their appearance would have for the event, Twisted Sister got together for what was then a one-off event, but would later prove to be the catalyst for their (still continuing) reunion touring.
The passion and emotion contained in both concerts is undeniable and must be seen – and heard to be believed. Tomorrow at Metal Shop at Delilahs, not only will I be featuring and playing both concert films in their entirety, but YOU CAN WIN a copy!
